Join us for a refreshing Plein Air Painting for the Soul Workshop (Landscape Painting) at the beautiful Kananaskis Village!
This workshop is in support of LOUD Art Society’s 10 year anniversary and all proceeds will be used towards our fundraising efforts.
This immersive outdoor experience is designed for participants of all painting skill levels to embrace the breathtaking beauty of the Kananaskis Valley and the Rocky Mountains, while fostering creativity and supporting mental well-being.
Immerse yourself in the calming effects of nature and the rhythmic process of painting, which can significantly reduce stress and anxiety levels.
This workshop will be facilitated by Tara Vahab — an award-winning professional artist, educator, and therapeutic arts practitioner. Tara will guide you through step-by-step techniques for capturing natural landscapes including mountains, trees and sky using acrylic paints. Participants will engage in practical exercises and live demonstrations to develop their plein-air painting skills and find inspiration in the beauty of the outdoors.
All painting materials, transportation, and snacks will be provided.

About the Facilitator:
Tara Vahab is an award winning Persian-Canadian interdisciplinary artist and therapeutic arts practitioner based in Calgary. Tara has received her first artistic award at age nine and she advocates for mental health through her art.
In 2015, Tara graduated from the University of Calgary with a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and immediately afterwards, she founded LOUD Art Society, a non-profit organization that supports the cultivation of positive mental health and well-being through creative practices.
Much of Tara’s artistic practice is informed by community connection through public art projects, murals, and workshops that key into art-making and mental health. Bright colours, patternmaking, found objects, and newspaper are elements that she returns to throughout her practice and are informed by her research on the metaphysical and its ties to humanity, empathy, and joy.
Currently, Tara is producing a series of personal and public artworks and working on her upcoming book “Self-Therapy Through Art & Creativity”.
